Installing a 25-ton knuckle boom marine crane like BOB-LIFT on a ship is a systematic project related to safety. Its installation is by no means a simple fixation; it must strictly consider the following three core elements:

I. Deck Strength: The "Load-bearing shoulder" of a Ship

The marine crane is grounded on the deck rather than on the solid ground. When it operates at full load, it will generate a huge concentrated load and dynamic moment.

Force challenge: When the boom extends outboard, the overturning moment it generates will be converted into an upward tearing force and downward pressure on the deck. The impact load brought by sea waves will further amplify this effect.

Solution: A strong frame (strong beams, longitudinal ribs) must be constructed beneath the deck to effectively distribute the load to the main hull. The welding of the base to the deck must also be done by full penetration welding to ensure the smooth transmission of force flow.

Core warning: Insufficient strength can directly lead to deck deformation or base tearing, causing the ship crane to capsize.

Ii. Ship Stability: The "Stabilizing Anchor" of Safety

Ship hoisting operations are a direct test of a vessel's anti-overturning capacity.

Center of gravity change: The weight of the ship crane itself will raise the center of gravity of the vessel and reduce its stability. When a heavy object is lifted out of the ship, a transverse tilt moment is generated, causing the vessel to tilt fixedly to one side.

Necessary assessment: Before installation, a detailed stability calculation must be conducted by professional engineers, covering extreme conditions such as navigation, operation, and even sudden drop of the lifted load, and ensuring compliance with classification society standards and leaving sufficient safety margins.

Core warning: Neglecting stability may lead to excessive camroll Angle, which is a major risk source causing the capsizing of ships.

Iii. Spatial Layout: The "Precision Chess Game" on the Deck

Motion envelope: It is necessary to precisely simulate the entire three-dimensional space swept by the 360° rotation and luffing of the boom to ensure there is no risk of collision with all equipment such as the cab, radar, and antenna.

The advantage of the knuckle arm: The knuckle arm design of BOB-LIFT has a significant advantage in saving space. When not in use, it can be folded, greatly reducing the impact on deck space and visibility. It is particularly suitable for engineering ships with compact space.

Core warning: Improper layout can lead to equipment damage, low operational efficiency, and even cause collision accidents.
