The tail lift of a truck can greatly enhance the efficiency of loading and unloading, and its installation process is of vital importance. Improper installation not only affects the lifespan of the tail lift but also may bring serious safety hazards.

Chapter One: "Physical Examination" Before Installation

Vehicle chassis inspection

Strength and structure: Installing the tail lift will change the vehicle's force-bearing structure. It is necessary to ensure that the vehicle's frame has sufficient rigidity and strength to bear the weight of the tail lift and the huge torque during operation. Especially for vehicle models that require "beam cutting" installation, it must be evaluated by professionals.

Dimensional measurement: Precisely measure the width, height and backup installation space at the rear of the vehicle to ensure that the selected tail lift size matches and does not affect the opening of the rear door and the reversing radar and other equipment.

Compliance confirmation

"Regulations on Motor Vehicle Registration" : According to relevant regulations, installing a tail lift is considered a change in the vehicle's appearance and technical data. After installation, you need to apply to the vehicle management office for a change of registration and a new driving license. Therefore, choosing qualified manufacturers and compliant tail lift products is a prerequisite.

Weight calculation: The tail lift itself is not light (several hundred kilograms). It is necessary to calculate whether its weight is within the allowable range of the vehicle's rated load capacity to avoid the embarrassment of being "overweight".

Installation environment and tool preparation

Choose a flat and solid site to ensure there is sufficient space for lifting the vehicle and conducting operations.

Professional installation teams will prepare levels, torque wrenches, welding equipment, hydraulic pipeline tools, etc., to ensure installation accuracy.

Chapter Two: Core Installation Process

Positioning and fixing bracket

According to the design drawings, precisely mark the installation position of the bracket on the vehicle frame.

Firmly fix the support to the main beam by using high-strength bolts or welding. At this point, a level is an indispensable tool. It is essential to ensure that the left and right supports are completely level; otherwise, it will cause the tail lift to be unevenly loaded.

Hydraulic pipeline wiring

The laying of "blood vessels" : Hydraulic oil pipes are like the "blood vessels" of the tail lift. Wiring should follow the principle of "neatness, firmness and heat avoidance", be fixed with pipe clamps, and be kept away from high-temperature components such as exhaust pipes to prevent oil pipe wear and scalding, which may cause leakage.

Power connection: Correctly connect the power cord of the tail lift control system to the vehicle battery, ensure proper insulation protection, and install a safety device.

Hoisting and commissioning

Use lifting equipment to slowly lift the main body of the tail lift, connect it with the support, and link it with high-strength pins.

After connecting all the hydraulic pipelines and circuits, conduct the first power-on test. Check whether the lifting, lowering, flipping and other actions of the tailboard are smooth and if there are any abnormal noises.

Load testing and fine-tuning

After the no-load test is normal, a load test must be conducted. Use a heavy object equivalent to the rated load of the tail lift (such as 1 ton or 2 tons) to test the operating state of the tailboard under the maximum load, check whether there is any deformation of each component, and whether the hydraulic system is stable.

Based on the test results, make final fine-tuning to the system pressure, limit devices, etc.

Chapter Three: Completion Acceptance and Usage Training

Acceptance checklist

Smooth operation: Under both no-load and load conditions, the tail lift operates smoothly without any abnormal vibration or noise.

Sealing performance: Check that there is no oil leakage at all hydraulic joints.

Safety: All safety devices (such as explosion-proof valves, emergency descent valves, and safety struts) are functioning properly.

Appearance: The structure is in harmony with the rear of the vehicle and does not affect the original vehicle's functions.

User operation training

A professional installation team will hand over the equipment to the driver and explain the usage of the remote control, key points of daily maintenance (such as regularly adding grease and checking the oil level), as well as emergency handling methods for common faults.

The installation of a car tail lift is a highly specialized systematic project, by no means a simple matter of "tightening a few screws". From rigorous preparatory work in advance, to precise installation positioning, and then to standardized pipeline wiring and strict load testing, every link is related to the safety and efficiency of future use. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you choose a brand like BOB-LIFT, which has a professional installation team and complete service qualifications, to ensure that every investment you make is worth more than its price and to serve your logistics business safely and efficiently.
